The inner man begins to be transformed when he ceases to seek God only at certain hours and begins to live before Him at every moment.
There is no place where God is absent. He is with you in the church and on the road, in the silence of the cell and in the noise of the city, in the time of prayer and in the time of work. What is often lacking is not His presence, but the heart’s remembrance of Him.
Train yourself to turn your mind toward God many times throughout the day. Many words are not always necessary. Sometimes a sigh, a brief prayer, an inward glance of faith, or a silent act of thanksgiving is enough. In this way, the heart learns to remain near the Source even while the hands are occupied.
The one who remembers God often begins to forget himself. Cares lose their power, anger fades more quickly, and joys no longer give birth to pride. The presence of God becomes the measure of all things.
Do not wait for a more convenient time to be with God. He is waiting for you in this very moment. Let every breath become a reminder that your life is continually upheld in His hands.
“In Him we live and move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28)
