Faithfulness in Secret

God’s deepest works are often accomplished where there are no witnesses, no applause, and no praise.

Without realizing it, people often seek to be seen and appreciated. But God works in secret, and the inner man also grows in secret. Where no one sees the struggle against an evil thought, the tear of repentance, the prayer whispered in solitude, or the good deed done without expectation of reward, there heaven looks with joy.

Do not despise the moments when no one notices you. It is precisely then that you reveal whom you truly desire to please. If you remain faithful when God alone is your witness, your heart begins to be freed from the desire for human praise and finds rest beneath the gaze of your heavenly Father.

There are victories the world will never know: a word you restrained before it could wound, a temptation driven away through prayer, an injustice endured without complaint, and a good deed hidden out of love for God. These are the stones from which grace builds the Kingdom within you.

Do not seek to be known by people. Seek to be known by God. The one who lives before Him needs no other reward.

“And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” (Matthew 6:6)
