The Mystery of the Patient Heart

Patience is love that has learned how to wait.

The impatient person wants everything to happen according to his own timing: the change of others, the resolution of problems, the healing of wounds, and the fulfillment of prayers. But God works according to a measure that the human mind cannot fully grasp. He is not late; He is preparing.

True patience is not merely enduring difficulties, but trusting that God is present even when you cannot see His work. It is the strength to remain kind when treated unjustly, peaceful when provoked, and faithful when results are delayed.

Just as a seed needs time to bear fruit, the soul also needs time to be purified and to grow. If you pull up a plant because it has not grown quickly enough, you destroy it. Likewise, if you judge yourself without mercy because you have not yet become what you hope to be, you hinder the work of grace.

Be patient with yourself, but do not stop striving. Be patient with your neighbor, but do not stop loving. Be patient with God, but do not stop praying. The one who waits with faith will, at the proper time, see fruits that haste could never produce.

“By your patience possess your souls.” (Luke 21:19)
