How to find peace of heart in the midst of trials

A quiet heart is not a heart without trials, but a heart that has learned where to place its burdens.

The world seeks peace by changing everything around it. The spiritual person discovers that true peace begins with the transformation of the heart. You cannot stop every storm of life, but you can learn to have Christ in the boat of your soul.

Unrest often comes from the desire to control what does not belong to us. We want to know the future, change people, and repair everything through our own strength. But God does not ask us to carry the world on our shoulders; He asks us to entrust our lives to Him.

When the heart becomes still before God, even difficult things receive a different light. Suffering is no longer only an obstacle, but can become a place of encounter with grace. Loneliness can become prayer, lack can become trust, and waiting can become closeness to the Lord.

Do not confuse the quietness of the heart with carelessness. The peaceful person is not indifferent, but settled in God’s hands. He works, but does not become anxious; he strives, but does not despair; he weeps, but does not lose hope.

Seek this peace more than success and more than the praise of people. For a heart where Christ’s peace dwells carries within it a kingdom that the world cannot give.

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.” (John 14:27)
