Not every silence is filled with God, yet no heart can hear Him without learning silence.
The world is full of voices constantly demanding our attention. Thoughts crowd in, words multiply, and the soul grows weary. Amid such turmoil, the voice of God never ceases to speak, yet we often lack the stillness needed to hear Him.
Learn to keep moments of silence not only with your lips, but also with your mind. Do not chase every thought or answer every anxiety. Let them pass like clouds across the sky, and turn your heart toward the Lord. In silence filled with prayer, the soul begins to see clearly what was once hidden.
Silence is not emptiness, but a place of encounter. There the passions grow calm, the thoughts become clear, and prayer deepens. The person who learns to be silent before God will speak less out of haste and more out of love.
Do not be afraid of stillness. Very often, God does not fill the heart with many words, but with His presence. A single moment spent in that presence can nourish the soul more deeply than many words.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
